A "Grande Ecole" or elite school for engineers, with 1,000 graduates a year

The Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers is a prestigious engineering school.
It has trained over 85,000 engineers since its foundation in 1780 by the Duke of Rochefoucauld Liancourt.
It is a "Public Scientific, Cultural and Professional institution" (EPCSCP) under the authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

One brand name: Arts et Métiers ParisTech

The Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers is a founding member of the ParisTech PRES *. In 2007, the school adopted the brand name "Arts et Métiers ParisTech".
Arts et Métiers ParisTech also is a founding member of the Research and Higher Education Cluster: PRES HESAM.

A unique national network

A unique institution led by a single management team, Arts et Métiers ParisTech consists of eight Teaching and Research Centers and three Institutes spread across the country.
Thanks to this network, it is able to maintain close contacts with industry throughout France.

Primary missions: teaching and research

The primary goal of Arts et Métiers ParisTech is to provide an initial foundation in general engineering principles for the disciplines of mechanical engineering, power engineering and industrial engineering.
Arts et Métiers ParisTech also offers continuing training for engineers and industry executives.

With 15 research laboratories and 1 PhD program, Arts et Métiers ParisTech develops teaching and research activities in three main fields:

  • Mechanics, materials, processes
  • Fluids and energy systems
  • Design, industrialization, risk management and decision-making

The school's training programs are completed by:

Focus on sustainable development

The values of Arts et Métiers engineers (professional skills, brotherhood and solidarity) correspond to the three pillars of sustainable development: social development, economic development and environmental protection.
This means that Arts et Métiers ParisTech is the school of sustainable products and acceptable production systems.
It trains engineers who specialize in sustainable technologies, able to design products and systems that respect the environment and to manage industrial organization while controlling both risk and cost.

A research structure certified by the Institut Carnot

Arts et Métiers ParisTech has its own Contractual Research Structure (SRC), ARTS (Association de Recherche pour la Technologie et les Sciences).
ARTS provides technical liaison and logistical support in relations with companies and the business world, and manages research in collaboration with the school's partners and the subsequent technology transfer.
In 2006, Arts et Métiers ParisTech and the ARTS were awarded joint approval from the Institut Carnot for their ARTS (Research Activities for Technology and Society) research structure.

Close contacts with the business environment

Scientific research is essential in developing the most efficient and innovative technologies.
At Arts et Métiers ParisTech, the shared goals of business people and academics bring them together to develop projects and skills to promote the emergence of new ideas in response to rapid technological change.
This approach enables the school to maintain the highest levels of expertise. Its constantly updated knowledge gives its teaching a guarantee of quality and technological excellence.

International openness

Arts et Métiers ParisTech has established partnerships with over 100 schools and universities worldwide.
This network enables it to offer a wide range of international study options.
